What's the Antikythera Mechanism
Antikythera Mechanism is the oldest mechanic calculator of the history. It is a complex planetarium moved by gearwheels used to calculate sun rising, lunar phases, the movements of the 5 planets known at that time, equinoxes, months and the days of the week. The Mechanism was found in 1900 thanks to the indication of a group of sponge fishermen which had lost their course due to a storm and were forced to take refuge on the little rocky island of Antikythira (Andikythira or Antikythera according to English writing) situated to the north-east of Crete. Off the island, at a depth of about 43 metres, they found a wreck of a huge ship employed in transporting bronze and marbles statues, estimated to have sunk in 87 BC.
